Paris, France

Image
Two summer's ago I visited the city of light, Paris France. I went with my aunt and sister and it was one of the most amazing trips. This was my first trip to Europe and experiencing the culture was amazing. We were only in Paris for a week so each day we squeezed in as much as we could. My favorite place that we visited was the Eiffel Tower. We went at night to watch the light show and brought a picnic. At the time no one could actually go to the top of the Eiffel tower so we had to sit and watch the show from below, but that didn't change my experience at all. Another place we explored was the Louvre. The Louvre is the worlds largest and most visited art museum. The Louvre was filled with so much history and art. We spent hours there admiring all the beautiful paintings and artwork that encased the museum.  The food in Paris is absolutely exquisite! This is another aspect of Paris that I fell in love with. Paris is known for its decadent foods including, escargot, pastries...

Austin, Texas Water Boil Notice

Image
On October 21st Austin, Texas was issued a boil water notice. Austin has received lots of rain over the past weeks and it has caused large amounts of flooding. Schools were let out early due to flash flood warnings, roads and bridges were blocked off due to flooding, and the Austin Dam area was blocked off. With all the heavy rain fall our lakes and rivers have been contaminated. The city has found harmful micro organisms in the water that could cause symptoms like diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms. Due to the water boil notice, grocery stores this past week have been booming with business due to customers stocking up on water bottles. I am from Austin, Texas, but I currently am not there, however, my family has to deal with the water boil notice. I have two younger brothers that are four and five and city officials have warned that children are at the most risk if they do drink the contaminated water. To make sure the water is safe to drink, the city is encoura...

My Hobbies

Image
In my "All About Me" post, I discussed what I love to do in my hometown, Austin Texas. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going on the lake and trying out all the amazing new restaurants. Every time I go to Austin, several new restaurants have opened up. My favorite types of food include sushi, tacos, and barbecue. Some of my favorite restaurants in Austin are Ranch 616, Salt Lick, Texas Honey Ham, and Uchi. These are just a few of my favorite restaurants, and each trip home I continue to add to this list. Whenever I'm craving any of these food options I know there are plenty of wonderful places to choose from. Attending college in another state has allowed me to create many new hobbies. Although at first I was nervous to come to a place that seemed so unfamiliar and far away from home, this experience has allowed me to explore a new place that has often been compared to Austin. These places are alike in some aspects, however, they are unique in the...

All About me

Image
Hi my name is Grace Johnston. I am a junior at the University of Arkansas studying communication disorders. I am originally from Austin, Texas. I am the oldest of five siblings. I have three younger brothers and one younger sister who attends San Diego State University. I love going to visit her. When I am in Austin, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going on the lake, and trying out all the new amazing restaurants. After I complete my undergraduate degree I plan on attending graduate school. After graduate school I plan to pursue my dream of becoming a speech-language pathologist. I have always wanted to work with children. I became interested in this profession when my youngest brother began to see a speech-language pathologist. I hope to one day have a private practice of my own and help children just like my younger brother.
